The whole Li(f)e album kinda bugs me. I mean it has some great songs and there’s certainly no doubting Sage’s lyricism, but in my opinion he pushes hip-hop genre a little too far. “Three Sheets to the Wind” and “London Bridge” could almost be pop-rock songs and at the end of the album I was left hankering for more traditional hip-hop style beats. However, having said that “The Best of Times”, “Worry Not” and this track offer some redemption.
All this being said, Sage is one of the most intelligent rappers out there and I respect his creativity and the fact that he’s not content to sit on his laurels and continues to offer diversity in not only his beats but his lyrics. His music is ever evolving and I guess with experimentation it can be a bit hit or miss.
Anyway, enjoy Sage in all his glory.
